Vote Black and White Panning Challenge

October 19th, 2020
Sue
There appeared to be multiple problems with the tag for this challenge and I sincerely hope that I have been able to locate every photo that was entered. If you attempted to enter and I have omitted your photo I sincerely apologise. I was only able to find 6 photos and I decided to include all 6 for the voting. Voting closes Monday 26 October.
The aim of the challenge was to use panning to create a sense of movement.

PLEASE DO NOT VOTE FOR MY PHOTOGRAPH #3

Whilst reviewing these photographs I realised that my photo of a lady smoking does not fit the criteria set by Sue for this competition, it is in no way "panning", my apologies for tabbing it as such.

@suez1e interesting comment by @allsop regarding his photo. We are having a discussion on the definition of Scenes of the road and I guess we have another problem here defining panning. In fact in addition to @allsop also pictures 1 and 5 don’t seem to be examples of panning in my eyes. I may be wrong. What do other people think? One of the advantages of 365 is that it teaches a lot about photography and these discussions are part of the learning

@suez1e Sue I'm confused as I didn't post a photograph. I voted for 6 as I thought it showed panning but I didn't comment.

@thistle01 in fact I think @suez1e was referring to the message by @allsop

@thistle01 Sorry, sorry, sorry. The message was for @allspop. I'm still finding my way around this site and I'm not sure how it went to your name. I have removed the comment to avoid further confusion. Thanks for voting

@caterina and @allsop ; Another interesting discussion. I know that some folk include a short description of a theme / technique in the invitation. That's nice, and I try to do that on those rare occasions when I host a round. That said, as far as techniques, it isn't unreasonable to expect folk to google. For example:
https://digital-photography-school.com/6-tips-master-panning-photography/

Of course we all need to remember that hosting a challenge can be a little daunting. Perhaps I should've posted the link like above to the original invitation...

@caterina Agreed, 1 and 5 weren't panned. In the ideal panned photo everything would be blurred by the pan except the subject

I found this a bit confusing as well and didn't see a lot of panning...great to open the doors to discussion and the eyes to techniques.
