this one is a freak. look closely: the spadix is just one smooth cylinder, no flowers at all, unlike the other flower below it, where you can see the tiny bumps on the spadix. and they're from the same plant. did you know that the flowers of the anthurium plant are actually those little bumps and not this thing we actually see? if you didn't, now we both know, because i didn't know that before, too. a friend of mine calls this a 'rude' plant. i think they're sexy. i love anthuriums.
i'm off to take the grands to a movie so i've posted early. when i come back then i can catch up on commenting on yours.
Gorgeous colors and focus. I have always had mixed feelings about this flower but you have made me change my mind about it. I love the shape of the bract.
@sunnygreenwood - yes, we did! they enjoyed it a lot. and i like it because it has a moral lesson for everyone. partner didn't come because he got tortured last time they were here when we watched the 'chipwreck'. hahaha! thank you, anne.
@olivetreeann - whenever i see an anthurium, unless it is in a garden store, i am wary of it. it can actually fool you, especially if the 'knock offs" are very well made. thank you, ann.
@karenann - thank you, karenann.
@jannkc - yes, that is right. thank you, jann.
@eddyj - thank you, eddy.
