it's well after lunchtime and i'm still sitting here contemplating what happened to my 'africa' dessert. i deliberately ate it as slow as i could and that's probably why i couldn't remember how it tasted. but i swear it was deliciously yummy, i think. hard to eat and shoot at the same time. good heavens that little coolpix is in a good mood today.
so the cake consists...er, rather consisted of cake soaked in rum and with a hazelnut mousse filling with pieces of hazelnut and pistachio and covered with a thick dusting of cocoa powder; decorated with pieces of dark chocolate barks and accented with a 'gold' coffee bean. it isn't...sorry, wasn't as sweet as i had expected. downed it with some green tea. i want to say i could die now, but partner just got me a blueberry danish so i think i'll hold off that thought for a little while more.
@hamble - hahaha! i'm usually the same way. food and photography, that's their sequence in my life. but i had to remember to take a photo of this to post here, that's why. it was delicious. thank you for taking your time to view and comment. it's much appreciated.
Well that looks yummy, oh, looked yummy! Glad you enjoyed it. I'm baking a cake to take to friends tomorrow. This shot has convinced me that I will absolutely NEED to lick the bowl.
@olivetreeann - i want to see that bowl before you lick it! makes me want to bake a cake, too. been meaning to make a lady baltimore cake. last time i made that i was still a young warthog (it's a phrase from 'the lion king') back in the early 80's in manila. thank you, ann. btw, where's that karenann? @karenann.
@summerfield I wish I could have taken pictures today- everyone would have had a huge laugh because my baking exploits today were a disaster with a capital D! The cake was mixed and ready to pour in my round cake pan. What I did not realize when I poured it was that it was warped, so the batter ended up all over the counter top and flour. Clean up #1. Saved as much batter as possible, but it was a pitiful looking sheet cake, so that was not leaving the house. Edible, but not presentable! Hubby is happy he has snacks this week! Ok, what's left in the cupboards? Oh good- brownie mix! Everything is mixed and ready to pour into the pan. Gently scraping batter into the pan and whoops! arthritic fingers decide they do not want to hold the bowl. NO! shouts the brain, you can't drop this bowl, so arms quickly guide bowl into pan and splatter nice shirt and floor with brownie mix in the process! Clean up #2- but not as bad as the first, still LOTS of brownie mix in the pan and 30 mins. later, a nice batch of brownies to bring to said friends, plus one very clean load of laundry done. What was that you said about photographing the bowl? I don't think that'd be a good idea today!
@olivetreeann - good lord! get that camera awayyyy from you. or you get away from the camera! don't think you'd look good licking the camera covered with brownie batter.
@sarasdadandmom - oopsie! haha. thank you, terry.
@pandorasecho - cake soaked in rum with hazelnut mousse filling....ahhhh...chocolate...cake...:-) thank you, dixie.
