you know, the nice thing with this same sensation thing is that i "must" have a nice cake to photograph (and eat afterwards). i'm liking it, don't you?
i was going to go for a filipino sweet delicacy but that got foiled as we were at the restaurant so early they have not started to make the dessert i wanted. i was going to make banana flambé but i have a backache and moving is such a task right now. i tend to put a lot of brandy on my flambé and the fire might get out of hand and i won't be able to move fast enough if an accident happens.
so, last minute decision, god bless the patisserie la cigogne next door. this, ladies and gentlemen, is called "opera!" - mocha butter cream and chocolate cream layered with a jaconde biscuit and finished with a delicate dark chocolate glaze. oh, my heavens, better than...some other stuff. :-)
pardon, it was not on a proper plate, but i couldn't stretch too much. being old sucks! (sometimes).
thank you, folks, for your views and kind comments, i appreciate them and i shall try to keep up once again with your albums.
looks delicious, and just wondering what Filipino dessert you were thinking to get if you had gotten one? Hope your back feels better, I know how that feels. It is not easy to move around when it hurts.
@pamfromcalgary - thank you, pam. it is quite rich, not very sweet, but rich.
@cottoncandy - thank you, mischell. i wanted to get the plantain banana wrapped in flimsy filo and fried with red sugar. it's my favourite filipino dessert. but filipinos don't cook their dessert until near lunchtime so i had to go with another cake for this day. maybe next time.
@summerfield we call that Turon in the Philippines, we even put jackfruit inside between two bananas. And you are right they are delicious because that is one of my favorite dessert in the Philippines. It is not that hard to make it, when you get better and have time you can give it a try :)
@cottoncandy - we call it here 'turon' also. :-) i didn't think you'd know turon. i'm looking at your profile pic again and you don't look like you're from the philippines. your nose is too pretty! :-)
@summerfield I actually grow up in the Philippines and I am a Filipina with American mixture. I had lived there for 21 years and I would love to visit again :)
I am glad I do not live next door to the patisserie! It's bad enough I succumb to a mocha frappe when I do my food shopping! But this looks delicious and the plate looks gold to me so it fits just fine!
@salza - it did! i'd have gone for more but the shop had closed! hahaha! and my back is still painful. thank you, sally.
