these are my little cylindrical tea canisters. they've been serving me for quite a few years. i buy loose tea leaves at 'the tea emporium' a gourmet tea place in toronto. my favourite is the black currant which i make in small batches during the summer and use it for my iced tea. these canisters' lids lock up so well that the tea leaves do not lose their flavour even for months, nor do they get moisture. (partner wanted to 'spruce up' the photo by putting our special teapot and cup/saucer as props!)
fridays in september are 'shape' days and my shape is cylindre or cylindrical. "a cylinder is a closed solid that has two parallel (usually circular) bases connected by a curved surface. a cylinder is very common in everyday life, such as a soup can. if you take it apart you find it has two ends, called bases, that are usually circular. the bases are always congruent and parallel to each other. if you were to 'unroll' the cylinder you would find that the side is actually a rectangle when flattened out." - mathopenref.com
thank you, my friends, for your views and kind comments; they are much appreciated.
@summerfield my sis-in-laws sis is regional manager (or something like that) and I think they are having a name change. I know my Teaopia emails are now coming from Teavana
@henrir - thank you, henri. but you know what, this does look like selective colouring, but believe me it's not. the canisters are exactly that colour, steely gray, with the green labels. i used a black cloth and extended it to the background and used only the living room white light. straight shooting, sooc, as we term it. if you look closely you can make out the gold trimming on the teapot and the cup. but the photo looks like it's in black and white with selective colouring. fancy that eh?
@catsmeowb - thank you, camille. you know those new businesses with bright ideas, owned by young entrepreneurs, they come out with all sorts of things.
Great lighting and subject. I love tea! I never drank it until i met my husband and he introduced it to me. For Christmas i always treat myself with a big package from David's Tea. Love it.
Well just love the focus on the this, very clever. Tea is definitely the best drink of the day but then it is so long since I have had a drink of wine I can not remember it............................must ..................not .................remedy that..............
@claireuk - you know, in deference to you abstaining from wine for a month, i was actually going to photograph some wine bottles, but i thought you might kill me five times it might actually hurt. and i'm a suck at physical pain. :-D thank you, claire.
@summerfield Aww thank you; I have also thought about photographing wine bottles for my figure of 8! Maybe too tempting, you go for it and I will just dream a little:0)
