last friday there were fountains in front of the new city hall so i had that in mind for my same setting shot for today. no dice, they had turned them off. it was just temporary anyway as the main fountain that doubles as the skating rink during winter is being renovated. i imagine the work is being wrapped up and they are ready to open the fountain again. hopefully that happens by the weekend so that i would have something 'new' to photograph.
in any case, this is toronto's old city hall building which is largely used as night courts or small claims courts or where accused persons appear after they've been arrested. it's a beautiful building and the clock tower still works. i should make it a point to photograph this when i'm not in a rush. the plaza was empty i reckon for the reasons i wrote above.
i used the same settings as the last two wednesdays' postings:
manual mode
WB auto
shutter speed: 8 sec
aperture value: f5.0
ISO 100
focal length 18mm
processed to black and white in camera. straightened in ribbet as well as the name tag. tonight i used my tripod. and i still had blurry pics. yay!
@pandorasecho - thank you, dixie. you would need to set your camera on something steady like a ledge or a tripod. i sometimes use my knees. tonight i used my tripod.
@olivetreeann - hah! the man would laugh at the tilt of this photo! @michaelelliott :-) i have a lot of beans to eat to get anywhere near the calibre of his shots. or make that chocolate cake, not beans.
@northy - i was so nervous because i went alone, the bugger who comes with me sometimes was watching the damn baseball doubleheader and couldn't be bothered. is that ramp accessible at night, do you know? we could meet up some night and go on a shooting spree downtown. thank you.
@slang - yeah, but the buildings are falling over!!! watch out! thanks, sean. might have to go back one day and shoot again using ms. northy's tips, which i'm not going to tell because it's a secret. :-) thank you, sean harry.
what did you think of my response to the push you set me? you didn't comment so must not have liked it :-)
@salza - thank you, sally.
@alia_801 - thank you, alia.
@steeler - thank you, howard.
@catsmeowb - thank you, camille.
@henrir - thank you, henri.
