1989 - vintage photo of moi with my precious baby niece and nephews.
the little boy on the right wanted a clown for his birthday which was december 26th. we would've hired a clown had he said earlier that's what he wanted but he told us last minute.
so on december 24th, just before the city closed down for the Christmas holidays, i went and rented a clown suit for his party. i told him i couldn't come to his party. i didn't want to wear the clown make up during my subway ride to their apartment so i hid in the stairwell and applied the make up there. when i arrived, the birthday boy fainted, flat right down on the floor. when he came to, he couldn't believe that he indeed had a clown for his birthday.
i had to learn a few magic tricks and a few song and dances. one of the highlights of my 'performance' was when birthday boy remarked: "hey, bozera, you have the same rubber shoes as my tante!" everyone almost died laughing.
when he was about 12, we told him that i was the clown who came to his party. he wouldn't believe it. the boy will be 28 next month yet he still won't believe it.
Hahahaha!!! Awesome shot and even more awesomen memory. Super sweet and I hope he never admits whether he still believes it or not. That is a part of his childhood he won't give up. ;-)
@sarasdadandmom - a long time ago, i had plans on destroying this and the negatives. glad i didn't or i'd have no post for this day. :-) thank you, terry.
@dmortega - thank you, dorrena. this boy has an IQ of 156 so i doubt if he really hasn't clued out. then again, he still talks about his phonepal 'oscar the grouch'. he called me one day and i had a sore throat. he didn't recognize me so i played along telling him i was oscar the grouch. from then on i'd call him using the oscar voice and he really thought that was oscar the grouch. i suppose he just doesn't want to leave his childhood.
