under my umbrella by summerfield

under my umbrella

i peer through the glass window of 'the sauce' restaurant. i see they have a large bar, bottles of liquor and alcohol line a mirrored wall, stemmed glasses of all shapes hang overhead with the display lights, making them sparkle. i open the door and walk in. a man comes from the back, wipes his hands behind his jeans.

"can i help you?"
"just want to know if you have those little umbrellas that you put on drinks, like little cocktail umbrellas?"
"hmm..." he goes behind the counter, looks underneath, looks behind by the bar sink. he opens drawers i can't see.
"i just need to buy one or two, it's for my photography project," i say.
he continues to look around, then, "uhmm...sorry, i don't think we have any. you can probably get them at the dollar store. or the bistro two doors down might have, they serve fancy drinks in there."
he opens another drawer.
"i've been to dollarama but they don't have it. i've been to the bistro, they don't have any. but thank you." i leave the bar.

i really would've wanted to make cocktails tonight with the little colourful umbrellas but no such luck. maybe next time. but i do have five umbrellas in my umbrella stand so that gets to be in my post tonight.

you still can't figure out what my project for this month is, eh?

UPDATE: what we are willing to do for this photography project really boggles the mind of other people.

i took about 15 shots and the best one, the one in perfect focus, i had the umbrella down as i had to run to the exact spot where i put a dummy (actually another umbrella). this is the second best shot. hard to stand on tippy toes of one foot and maintain balance while the other foot is raised, plus holding the umbrella as prop.
I absolutely love this. The high key look works wonderfully and I love the fact that she is walking up steps that you can't see. Fav

I can't think what your project is! Is it something to do with films maybe or old and new things? Great umbrella shot, nice processing.

I like the shot and since I'm now seeing u after x (before it if you are viewing in order), it's got to be an alphabet project. But somehow I've missed most of it!
