to conclude this niagara falls series, here's a shot of the american side of the falls including the rainbow bridge. the green structure in the middle is the look out point for people on that side of the border to have a glimpse of both falls. of course, when you're in the canadian side, it is easy to take a picture of both falls. (see http://365project.org/summerfield/365/2012-12-25 )
if you have not done so, i encourage you to come and see the falls. in the summer, i recommend taking the 'maid of the mist' for a tour of the river and when the boat has reached the foot of the large falls, it is a feel-good experience - only then would you have a proper perspective of how great and mighty the falls really are.
Gorgeous. I am so mad, but years ago, we were in Kentucky, visiting my grandmother and aunts..and my mom gave me the choice to come on with them (my family) to Niagra Falls or stay with my young adult cousin that I so loved. And I stayed with my cousin. I am actually glad i did. We made some good memories, and she died of breast cancer after having it repeatedly since her early thirties. So I am glad I went with Lina and spent time with her. But, I am mad I never got to the falls. They must be magnificent. Maybe one day..
@maggiemae - no, maggiemae, they are not. in this shot, the light is coming from the setting sun. at night, both falls are lit up with coloured lights beamed from a building on the canadian side. thank you, maggiemae.
@espyetta - we should have a meet up, in the late summer should be good. we should round up @northy@k1w1@olivetreeann and everyone else who are at least two hours away from the falls, tara and you. that would be awesome, and a sight to behold i would reckon. how's about that, ladies?
@summerfield That may be closer to really happening than ever before since we are about to come in to possession of a road-trip worthy vehicle! Next step- renew the passport!
@espyetta@northy@olivetreeann I am so up for that. I would go for a winter trip to but not in February. It is way too cold at the falls then. I've done it twice and both times it was too cold to even walk around.
@summerfield@k1w1@olivetreeann that would be fabulous! Maybe I can use some frequent flier miles. I don't have very many...I don't fly frequently. Hee hee but that would be a great meet up! I am in! I just need to start to save my money!
@k1w1@northy@summerfield@espyetta I most likely will not be able to get up there until Spring - might be up there in March for birthday celebrations. My biggest hurdle is getting that passport renewed!! But yes, let's set a goal- it makes it more tangible. I'd love to meet all of you!!
