get pushed #173 - the auguries of innocence

i love @julieco 's push for me this week - to make an image that illustrates the poem of William Blake:

"To see the world in a grain of sand,
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold the Universe in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour."

it really made me think of several possibilities to interpret this. i had to wait until this weekend so i could go to the beaches for this set up. failing that i was going to steal a bucket of sand from the beaches, but when i woke up this morning, the sky was beautiful and the sun was shining. so off to the beaches i dashed but since snow had been forecasted since last night, there was a lot of cloud accumulation over the lake. don't you just love those four dark clouds lined up just so? i couldn't find any flowers on my way in so i broke a small branch of these red berries at the park.

as i was on my stomach on the sand shooting this, i felt something heavy nestled on my back. then i heard a voice calling "max! come here boy!" a few times and i assumed it was "max" on my back. i didn't dare look but i heard the same voice say, "sorry about that". just before i wrapped up, a lassie look-alike came running towards me and sniffed me and i said to it, "go away or i make you into a stew!" tee-hee! it dashed off and i saw an image reflected on my screen running towards the dog. i came across the dog and the owner walking back and the poor dog wouldn't go near me but the owner apologized for the dog's behaviour.

to complete the image, i'd have wanted to have a young kid's pair of hands holding the crystal ball, but the people who were there were with their dogs only, no kids. (where are those pesky kids when you need them?) but i am happy with this, and i hope julie is, too!

i think i would like to revisit all those poems i love and take photos interpreting them. that would make a nice project and really tickle your creative sense to work.

finalist. - please don't vote for me.
@julieco - here's my interpretation of the paragraph.

William Blake is one of my favourite poets - you can visualise what he writes so well. This is a lovely interpretation - maybe an unusual experience getting it though!

You really seem to attract unwanted dogs! Great capture despite the distraction. I like the pop of red.

I like the picture, but have to say that the tale of its capture had me laughing outloud. Lassie stew indeed.

Sorry for the delay in responding. Ongoing family crisis, now become crises! Anyway, I've faved this. I love your interpretation of my favourite lines and I also love your idea to create images for other poetry. One day perhaps?
