He's waited a long time for this and then to get upstaged by that sex kitten Penny Mordaunt in her fabulous teal get-up and sword wielding 🤣
Watched the morning's proceedings mainly for the historicness of it - the Queen was one thing, but not sure about this going forward - all seems slightly dysfunctional. Rain didn't stop the fun for people though which was good.
Went to the mid-speed session after - a smaller group than last time which was quite pleasant. Stayed for another drink after (having already had two wines) to listen in on an old-timey jam upstairs.
3 good things
1. Lovely music mostly at the coronation (give or take the odd modern nonsense and Andrew Lloyd Webber) especially the Greek music during the handing over of the toothpicks of plenitude and such like.
2. Made a wonderfully healthy leek and cauliflower soup which I'd planned for supper but we were tempted by the fatty greasiness of the chippie and had fish and chips instead.
3. We've still got soup now for tomorrow's supper!
Oh I love that….couldn’t take my eyes off Penny Mordant! She was right in the front standing there all that time…. Superb but how did she get such a big job now & when the Queen died! I was thinking she might faint but never moved!
The wife said who's that, so I googled her, she did look splendid (even for a Tory) ... we were driving home from a Waitrose shop (25% off wine) and Jack Whitehall was being interviewed by Claudia on Radio 2 , his Mum had been sleeping on the Mal from Tuesday and he described the events as a "Tory Glastonbury" which made me and wifey laugh out loud !!!
I think she looked amazing and to carry that sword for so long with composure must have taken some doing… I loved the choirs especially the gospel choir they were amazing and I’m not a churchy person 👑
I cannot believe that I stayed late for it (started 10pm here), I guess with the same reason as your. Plenty quiet remark inside my head. Lucky that I got plenty photos to process at the same time.
I only stayed up until midnight watching for the same reason as you, it's all part of our history. I had no idea who tat woman was and was wondering why she was there all the time.
@30pics4jackiesdiamond I'm no Tory, but I'm always very impressed at the hard work of those who take their constituency duties seriously - it's such an important part of their job.
I only realised afterwards that it was Penny Morduant. It was a fabulous day, inciting many emotions for me. In no particular order ... The wonder of it all. Thoughts for our dearly departed Queen. Thoughts for Camilla and what on earth she must have been thinking throughout the entire ceremony (she looked petrified). Thoughts for William and his family and their futures. Thoughts for Harry and his family, but in a very different way. Concern at the extravagances, given all that is going on in the world at present. Impressed that we have a Hindu PM who gave a reading from the Bible. Great pride that we, in Britain, can still do something right and that people all over the world were watching. Amazement in general.
I don't like any celebrations. It have stay from the times of communism, when joy was obligatory and every grimace was punished. But I'm glad all people can be so spontaneous. And Hendel is great and his music will stay forever.
yes I agree with you..
