Our pretty turning candle holders - deer, angels and trees with birdies. All lit up for our Christmas dinner.
Lots of heavy rain today - even so, a big fat robin sat in the tree in the garden and sang to us as we made our scrambled egg/smoked salmon breakfast and popped open a bottle of champagne. Then we opened our presents. Lots of lovely things: earrings, cookbooks, chocolates, a lovely Mondaine watch among other things.
We then donned the aprons and made an unbelievable mess in the kitchen as we threw together our Christmas dinner: broccoli, chestnut and mushroom pie with all the normal trimmings. Dave managed to burn the carrots, the bottom of the saucepan seared black - but they were actually OK.
Then lots of telly watching. Had a bit of a headache with all the early alcohol, so walked round the block in the damp, mild evening, looking at all the fairly lights and Christmas trees glittering in windows and a moon trying to shine through the clouds.
Telly log:
Yesterday evening:
- Nativity - not heard of this before seeing the adverts recently for the sequel. Turned out to be mildly entertaining.
- A bit of Ratatouille followed by the Outnumbered Christmas special: funny how the kids have grown up and it's not really about them so much any more.
Today:
The Queen
Shrek Forever After - always a favourite in our house
Dr Who - not one of the classics.
These are so pretty, I'm going to look out for some next year. I saw one in Sheffield this year with dinosaurs on it which I thought was really cool, I was tempted!
