Peel House by boxplayer

Peel House

Peel House I believe may have been the site of one of the first or earliest 'peeler' training schools. It's now posh flats but does have an interesting relief out front that I can't find much out about other than it's by someone called Stuart Bamford Smith. But it depicts a runaway carriage with mother and child being rescued by a peeler. This a detail of the mother and child with the driver clinging on on top.

Drama of the Victorian gothic kind!

Love the mothers pout.

Fascinating - I looked up a pic of the whole thing and it seems to be modern. That would explain the detail in the skirts which seems slightly risqué for a Victorian statue (too much suggestion of leg!). My great great grandad was one of the first 'fire bobbies' in Liverpool. The original firemen were part of the police force - I should post a photo!
