One of greatest compliment than can be given to an image is for it to be hung in a gallery or our home. Last year @aspada reminded us of this when she started this thread "worthy of hanging."
Our favs collections contain many beautiful images images. Have you faved an image that is so memorable you would hang it in your home? I know I have, including a print of a photo exhibited in a show by @westcoastwallis which is hanging in my home.
Here are three that I would hang. Which of your favs would you pay homage to by hanging in your home(maximum three).
I Would include @grizzlysghost but I am sure that he will be on many peoples list... And I already have about 10 of his prints hanging in my restaurant
@jsorensenart Now I am really disappointed to learn you have a restaurant and that @grizzlysghost persuaded me that May was the wrong time of year to visit Montana. We'll see. Thank you for the compliment
@jsorensenart Dude, without getting all manlove on you (cos, you know, Aaron might be watching), I could have closed my eyes and picked from your work. Just went with a recent one.
I love photos of people, but there are a few I would hang
I have a large print of this one by my nephew Jacob @jacob89
....
and I obviously have a thing for night sky photos.... @abirkill
and beaches ... my very first fav by Jenn @aikiuser
@onie thank you again. I should do a print to send for you. Or maybe a t-shirt @thedoublea Thank you. That was a dark image @jantan you nuts show and tell @sjodell wow, some of these I have never seen before.
@wilder Some place I drive by daily @johnnyfrs Some place I'll probably never see with my own eyes. @ninan A place I would like to be to take a photo of the Earth.
Jenn's shot is all about the things I love; ordinary elevated to being extraordinary, simple but challenging, geometry and abstraction @shutterbugger
I also want to highlight this photo by @still_beachradish because it jumped right at me from my favs. Maybe it would be weird for me to put this on my wall though ... :)
@aspada Funny that I thought of you when I saw which photos you'd chosen as your favourites - in fact I thought you'd shot them! Says that your style is highly distinctive (and awesome)!
@bmnorthernlight@alceyone@thedoublea Wow thanks for the mention. Am really honoured. I'm at work so I shouldn't be looking through my favs but I'm going for this one for now. might have a proper look again later.
Just love the colours and lines of light in this.
@alpeedee Oh my word thank you! I'm so honoured!! And I adore the other ones you chose so I'm even more flattered. I hadn't seen this thread - there are loads I would hang so I'll have to dig them out when I've finished work (which I should be doing now!). By chance my daughter sent me a canvas of my 'Snow in St John's Street' photo this morning - it looks much better enlarged than I imagined it would - I recommend everybody 'goes large' and hangs their prints!!
@johnnyfrs You're welcome! I think I could easily select wall from your architectural B&W shots alone but I may need to buy a bigger flat with more walls first lol
@jonesp@michaelelliott sorry I didn't include one of yours... I just couldn't pick only 1 from either of you. There needs to be coffee table photo books from both of you
This is a great thread, But I have way to many favs and could see almost all of them worthy of hanging up, and the max is three, so here are three that I radomly picked... @leahthemushroom- @tammywammy- @mummarazzii-
This one is just amazing and I would love to have it on a metal print!! @jsorensenart
Brenda's ocean scenes have definitely inspired me over the past couple of years! @liipgloss
I came across Alexis just recently and just admire his work and great advice. @abirkill
@hehe1308 Thank you SO much, Helen, for such an amazing compliment. :) I'm totally honoured and humbled to be mentioned in a thread like this, with so many masters of the art... Wow. After a stressful day at work, this brought a smile on my face, thank you. xx
this is one of the first things I came across when I started cruising through this site and not only can I stare at it for hours but I left it up on my computer when I wandered off and apparently a couple of my coworkers can also stare at it for hours.
I remember this thread! Such a great one:) And thanks for the mention Peter - I hope you haven't tired of New Denver Shinedown;-)
So incredibly hard to narrow it down to 3 choices, which I haven't really done here, because I have several others I would hang in my home - but anyways - 3 of my recent hangworthy choices:
This one by @shutterbugger - she knows how much I love this one. And I'm REALLY into snow scenes lately.
And this one by @janim - classic car AND a hint of snow! You had me at hello. Although I prefer the version posted to his fanpage:) I already own one of his pieces and it's been hanging quite beautifully on my wall for some time now:)
And, finally, this one, by @rvwalker - what do you know? It's another snowy scene. He's captured this SO perfectly.
I had the hardest time with this! I would love to hang many of my favorites in my home, but these are the three I came up with today. :) There are so many more – I'd hang a whole series of macros by @rach_who... and another series of flowers by a whole variety of people... and beach scenes for my deck... and... well I could go on and on! :)
@jsw0109 No thats what I call a compliment Jeff! Funny you should mention a book, thats my plan over the next few weeks. To finally prepare/print a book of my Year One photos...
For something to hang on the wall at home, that implies long term livewithableness. I'd like all of the Getty series by @suzannehunt of which this is representative:
As for a gallery, I could pick any number, but @bobfoto sprang to mind for big clean white exhibition spaces:
@jsw0109@willowdragon thanks Jeff and Al! So honoured to be listed here! It is my fav too, I'm thinking of printing it on glass or aluminium, I suck at making decisions!
I'm at work at the mo' but will check my fav's out soon too...too many amazing ones to choose from I fear!
@aspada Aww...first you fav Gigi and now this? I think I'm feeling a little love over here. Very kind....thanks Amy! You know what is funny about this selection? When I was deciding on how to process this photo I was thinking of all the wonderful textures in your photos. :)
wow, thank you so much Jani! You're my fav finn and I admire your work...so that means a lot. If you still had your other project up, there are many that I'd choose from yours but the ones that stands out, and I've thought of a few times, is your tryptic (or was it diptych) of the tea. I love that one. @janim
Thank you so much Paula! I already know which I would pick of yours. On flickr, sunset on road with trees and a car. Love it! @westcoastwallis
This is really tough - a lot of my Fav's I wouldn't necessarily hang but I'd love to browse through them in a book
However, there's a whole load of @grizzlyghost's I'd hang but this is my current favourite
This shot by @geertje I'll never forget
Loads of @aspada's would be found a space - I'm waiting for the coffee table book
@chewyteeth thank you! I couldn't participate in this.. to hard to choose between the people I follow, although I would frame any of your Blue Fire Police landscape shots.
@peterdegraaff hey Peter.... interesting question! and i've been pondering since you posted this thread... much as i love all the landscapes and pretty boat shots, and i've faved many, i think i would go with images along the following lines (really - narrowing down to 3 is HARD!!!!)
@northy last year I hung a series of photos in dining room. I'm thinking of changing them all. Nothing wrong with being curatorial and describing our moods or edginess through them
@joa@northy Thanks guys! :)
I confess - I don't have a single picture hanging in the house... though I do have one by a friend of a red leaf which is all framed up and waiting for us to pick a spot.
@alceyone Wow Anne. Thank you so much! I hadn't checked my notifications in a while and just saw this now. Some gorgeous photos on this thread. Can't wait to go through them and post my choices when I get a moment.
@jase_h@onie@automaticslim - oh wow.... I have been absent of late and finally find a moment to get online and I discover this beautiful thread (thank you @peterdegraaff ) and I see 3 inclusions! Oh boy!
I do know of a wee house in Ireland where that Froggy shot does hang, so I am pretty chuffed that some of my work does exist elsewhere.
Looking through my collection of faves... I would certainly be at peace with these three stunning shots.
Way too many to mention...I could wallpaper my apartment with shots on 365 that I love. But I do actually have this one up on my wall, @chewyteeth and I did a long-distance swap. I love wildlife photography, when the subjects are actually in their natural habitat. And this one is not your 'standard' kind of wildlife shot:
All of these photos are awesome. Makes me doubt whether I should ever post another picture. It is very hard to choose but I would definitely hang these pictures:
@exposure4u thanx wendy for the buzz ... ive been so slack lately of taking photos and esp commenting on the beautiful work others do esp your work . Love it all the time . xxxx

@peterdegraaff
@grizzlysghost
By @tracywilliams because this is very illustrative of my home and my silly family :-)

But as I said there are so many and so few walls......................
@lizzybean wow
I would pick these recent additions to hang at home. The office would be a different style all together.

Brenda's ocean scenes have definitely inspired me over the past couple of years!
@liipgloss
I came across Alexis just recently and just admire his work and great advice.
@abirkill
This one, out of the fork series by @janim would totally be the perfect thing for a kitchen of a metal / rock girl.
And if I can only pick three, this one by @jase_h is definitely one. Might be bedroom wall stuff, hehee. ;P (Because it's so serene, duh!)
Hmm, I do tend to go with the b&w / mono stuff for my walls. Matches the decor better, I suppose.
@pyrrhula
@joa
So incredibly hard to narrow it down to 3 choices, which I haven't really done here, because I have several others I would hang in my home - but anyways - 3 of my recent hangworthy choices:

And my latest favourite Amy shot:
@aspada
Agree, it is too hard to pick three
Some warmth from @aristide
A bird from @steve_fraser
The blue of @onyx
As for a gallery, I could pick any number, but @bobfoto sprang to mind for big clean white exhibition spaces:
I'm at work at the mo' but will check my fav's out soon too...too many amazing ones to choose from I fear!

This one just reminds me so much of an Odd Nerdrum painting. Can't get enough of it. @endrem
This is such a beautiful portrait, I would love to have this on my wall. @losthorizon
And I'd definitely like to see this blown up to A1 size on my wall. @jsorensenart

#1 by @billabonga
#2 by @hasselhotch
and #3 by @bobbyj
All of the photos that I have faved could and should be hung somewhere. These three are just ones that I feel would fit my homes decor.
I confess - I don't have a single picture hanging in the house... though I do have one by a friend of a red leaf which is all framed up and waiting for us to pick a spot.
I would hang this...this should be hung somewhere.
