condo living

"the odd couple"

this pair of condominium buildings is such a standout among other buildings west of toronto. on saturday when we were driving to port colborne, i asked partner if we can pass by these buildings as i'd like to photograph them for my 365 album. the shapes have always intrigued me. i call them "sexy buildings" because from a distance, they look like the old bottle of coca-cola. standing at the base or near the base of the building, they look weird, especially the building on the left having some phallic semblance. this particular shot, i took from across the street, half lying on partner's knees so i could get the top of the building and part of the tree in frame. they're massive buildings. looking up, even with the clear blue skies, i felt like they were going to fall on me.

weird, but all units are sold. wouldn't want to live in there, though.

Nice capture! They look very twisty and odd from below! Great job getting the tops of them in the shot :)

most unusual shapes -- but very cool to step outside the box! Neat how your got the branches of the tree in the top corner! Nice composition!

Very unusual architecture ... and it looks like there are so many units!! Gorgeous pov .. and sexy or not, I wouldn't care to live there either. They look like a "city unto themselves!"

@alia_801 - they look odd from afar and near. there is actually a man in one of the balconies in the middle of the left building but you won't see it without zooming in. thank you, alia.

@catsmeowb - these buildings are in the vicinity of the international airport, how easiy would it be for terrorists to hijack one of the planes and divert it to these buildings. if the condo is sold out, can you imagine the casualty? for the love of me, i couldn't properly count the floors, but if you want to count, start counting at 15 going up. yowsers! thank you, camille.

@cscecil - thank you, CS. i don't like it inside the box, quite dark! :-))

@karenann - around the buildings are townhouses and the complex is gated. the guards actually stood at the read when they saw me almost lying down on my back taking pics. and partner wanted to get the beach mat so i could actually lie down. heck, no! so i made him extend his leg and i rested my neck on his foot. we were a sight to behold! hahahaha! thank you, my friend.

Awesome shot- and definitely some interesting architecture there! But perhaps more interesting is the imagination picturing you and partner taking the shot!

@olivetreeann - thank you, ann. hahaha! i don't know if partner was just pulling my leg but he said just now that the guy who was also there with his big muscled camera made a fast shot of me on the ground and when he saw him, ran back to his car and sped away. i'd love to see that photo.

Wow!!! I love the angle and the comparison of the new style building verses the old in the centre. Wonderful contrast. Great capture. Thanks for sharing.
