an old friend

"well, hello there, good old friend of mine"

i almost forgot the assignment/challenge for this week: the 30-second game. didn't realize there's too much stuff lurking around my living room: lamps, filters, books, DVDs, magazines, cameras, stuff.

and i found out my photographic speed: i can take 45 shots in 31 seconds. 40 were crappy and promptly got deleted so i have 5 to choose from: lamp (boring!), camera, phone, camera and magazine.

i chose this, the old friend, hauled off once again from the closet and which i'm using for the next week for the camera settings challenge #11 which calls for double or multiple exposure. bought some cheap 35mm films which would probably last me for quite a while. how do we double expose a shot? i'm guessing after the roll is done, reload it and take shots again. that should be interesting. i know when i first had this camera that's all i get out of my shots, double exposure. maybe it's like riding a bicycle. :-)

so here you are, ann. the product of my 30-second game.

thank you, folks, for your untiring visits and kind comments; know that i appreciate them so much.
I'd love to understand how to double expose...please do share!

@espyetta - don't know yet. i think that's what i'm going to do, reload the darn film then start using it. then have it processed at the lab and hopefully they turn out good. maybe i should just find my old negatives that were double exposures. hehehe.

@espyetta - i tried the double exposure on the dSLR but i sucked! i'd die in my old age not having any complete understanding of the camera. your camera might have a multiple exposure function, i think it's called image overlay, at least that's what it's called in my nikon. thanks, MB.

Great capture .... at least you got five great ones to choose from!! I think that all of 365 is doing this challenge but me. I love seeing the photos that everyone gets. Like I said earlier ... it takes me an hour just to find a "subject" to shoot. Another ten minutes or so to do settings and focus. Fiddle around ... it's all I do. And I have to shoot about 300 pics to get five that I'd half-way like. So call me a "loser" in the challenge. :) Now ... tell me about that double exposure stuff. I saw Peter's tonight and "fell in love!" Amazing stuff. You use a film and then "re-use" the film again and overlay the photos?!! Never heard of it. And don't have a clue how to do this in digital. Does learning cameras ever end? Love your Minolta, summerfield. Wish that I'd never sold my other camera.

@karenann - thank you, KA. re double exposure - that's just my guess, re-use the film. i wouldn't know how else. i'll fiddle with the digital tomorrow to see if i can do something decent. yes, learning this stuff is such an unending undertaking. i almost sold this camera and all its accessories, including a very expensive tokina telephoto lens. for $200. but i asked on the internet, actually e-mailed a few professional photographers. one told me she'd buy it but it's not really worth much. i was all set to ship it out, when another photographer e-mailed and told me to hang on to it, that it's still worth a fair amount of money and advised me that i should use it if i'm into photography. he even commented on my 365 photos and gave some pointers.

Nice one for the 30 second challenge. If I remember correctly, there's a way to take the shot but not advance the film so that you can take it again. But it's been a while!
