is actually on the other side which we have never seen unless you had been one of the astronauts or cosmonauts, because the moon does not rotate as it orbits the earth.
in any case, the moon got the memo so it persisted and showed up so that i could go out and photograph it, mosquitoes be damned. actually it's a bit coolish for mosquitoes to even bother me so we're good!
and so now do i want a longer lens so i don't have to crop the s**t out to the tiniest pixel count? no, in fact that 300mm is a bitch to carry. so i'm over the freaking moon. well, until next month when i shall shoot it over the atlantic ocean. well, maybe.
cropped and processed in photoshop (contrast, was it?) to bring out the details.
I call this the bottom part of the moon - you can see how its put together with a core and veins running away! I wonder what would happen if you poked a hole in that core! Would zoom away like a balloon, do you think?
Great capture Vikki. I'm glad it was visible for you last night and I would say my moon does have a different colour to it than yours. I can't explain why, but hopefully you will see it in September the same way I did. :)
