Was the name of this charming puppet show created by Gemma Khawaja based on the traditions of Cromer in Norfolk. The puppet is Richard Davies, noted fisherman, lifeboat man and stepdancer from Cromer.
A very early start to drive to Stowmarket for the return of the Traditional Music Day - in abeyance for a while because of changes in the organisation, COVID and most painfully being cancelled literally the day before because of the Queen's death last year.
Hotel we've stayed at on previous occasions seems to have gone very downhill - no longer has a restaurant and looked rather scruffy around the edges. Walked the dismal mile along the dual carriageway into town for the day's events - jam-packed with interesting things. Dave did a couple of talks and I had a first session. Popped into the library for the puppet show before grabbing a sandwich and a beer for another session.
Afternoon of music with impressive Essex mother and daughter duo Belinda Kempster and Fran Foote, and after Tony Hall and the Von Krapp Family for entertaining tunes, songs and general ramblings.
Dave decided to squeeze one more concert in but I felt like staying outdoors as it was a nice day and found a new wine bar to sit outside with a spritzy cocktail. We had planned on walking to a chippie for fish and chips but decided to venture into the Queen's Head and had a satisfying if odd supper of onion bhajis in wraps with chips together with a pornstar martini as you do - Dave went for the halloumi and chips in a basket meal.
Evening concert in the John Peel Centre with Rosewood, Mossy Christian and Megan Wisdom, Dan Quinn and Mike Bettison, Sound Tradition, and Cohen Braithwaite-Kilcoyne. So full of food and cocktails I managed to slumber most of the way through the first half - hopefully nobody noticed. It was also freezing so had to put my fleece hood up for a lot of the time.
A and S were there and staying in our dive hotel so we got a lift back. The dive was suitably divey - wasn't entirely sure they'd changed the sheets....
