Andy C has already captured a few of these - the Olympic mascots, Wenlock and Mandeville, dotted around London. Slightly disturbing I think with that one eye. Victoria Wenlock on the left, Household Cavalry Mandeville on the right - both located in Victoria Tower Gardens in Millbank. The structure behind Mandeville is the Buxton Memorial Fountain, put up in the 19th century to commemorate the emancipation of slaves in the British Empire - designed by Gothic revival architect Samuel Sanders Teulon. It was relocated here from Parliament Square mid-20th century.
Totally busy at work as needed to finish off stuff before taking off a couple of days as leave - so couldn't even catch a sniff of Games action. But got home to watch some great stuff: a tremendous 200m butterfly final won with the weeniest of margins by South African Chad le Clos beating his hero Michael Phelps by a literal whisker; Michael Phelps then went on to win the 4x200m relay with his swim-mates to become some kind of medal-holding record holder; and Team GB swimmer Michael Jamieson and the women's football team did well too. Oh and those posh horseriding people got us a silver as well.
great Wentlock & Mandeville shots - I'm wanting to walk the route to shoot them all - think it'd make a nice collage - finding the time is tricky!! I'm sat at my PC trying to get us tix for tonight - there was a flood yesterday at about 2pm so I'll do my best - you OK with up to £100 seems to be about the price on sale? (except the ones at £450 which are just too ridiculous!!) see you later one way or another
I'm not quite sure what to make of those mascots... but I like your shots of them. Enjoy all the Olympic fun! (I went to the Atlanta games in 1996 - had a great time!)
