A fairy stands guard over her wares in the craft stalls area. A good day weather-wise – sunny intervals and by late afternoon/evening – full sunshine. Such a relief to get out of my walking boots and put sandals on.
Anna and Dave went off to the site without me and I had a nice lazy morning including a lovely hot bath to soothe my aching muscles. Too much sitting playing melodeon and dancing about like a pirate.
I left the hotel at 11.30-ish to walk up to the Bird in Hand pub where I caught a short set from Brian Peters, then walked the short distance from there to the site to see Fay Hield and the Hurricane Party – a fine singer with good songs and a top-notch band including Jon Boden, Sam Sweeney and Rob Harbron. After lunch of nachos and a quick look round the craft stalls, went back into the concert tent to see Jon Boden’s Remnant Kings – more or less the same band as for Fay Hield but in a different order …
Again Dave and I returned to the town on the bus after (Dave having bought yet another guitar – but apparently it’s a good one so that’s all right), and popped into the Wheatsheaf again for another small-scale session – even more intimate than yesterday. Luckily I knew the couple who were running it, otherwise it would have been fairly scary going round the circle taking it in turns to start tunes.
We then walked back to the site to meet Anna for another veggie sausage sandwich and a set from the rollicking Irish band Dervish (joined on stage by the Irish stepdancer we’d seen the previous day – amazing feet).
Sounds like you are doing the festival in a civilized manner staying in a hotel!!! Lots of good music & Dave has had a little spend!! That hair is amazing!
