If Maggiemae has the universal haircut for the elderly, then here’s another fact-of-life for many of us: physical therapy exercises to do at home. I already do home traction every day. I could also spend an hour continuing with the exercises I was doing a year ago to fend off rotator cuff surgery. Now I have these foot-and-ankle exercises, for an issue that began a year ago.
On the “plus side,” I get more use out of the calf-raise block I built for Clare three years ago.

@marlboromaam Not that I have a lot of choice. I was much more disciplined with the arm exercises a year ago than I have been now with the plantar fasciitis exercises. It has helped that I have some new [custom] orthotics and some [expensive] sneakers that are particularly helpful for arch problems.
@rhoing I know - believe me. I had to get custom orthotics after my third month at the big warehouse store. Footlevelers and my New Balance athletic shoes... A new pair of each every six months because that's how fast I wore them out. $180 for the custom orthotics which my insurance paid half and $190 for the shoes which I had to pay the whole thing out of pocket. But - I had to keep working there since no one else around here wanted to hire anyone over 50.
@rhoing My gosh! That's outrageous for custom orthotics! I had plantar fasciitis too and probably got it two weeks after starting there. I hobbled out of there at the end of shift. The custom orthotics made a big difference after no success with the stupid machine at Walmart for Dr Scholl's. No one should waste their money on that! Ack!
