two boats by summerfield

two boats

first the bad news: gallery said no, my photos are so mainstream. hahaha! i thought i should have a portfolio of all my five plus two shots, then they can tell me they're mainstream.

hey, wait a minute! mainstream, doesn't that mean boring? :-(

now the good news. Percy Waters Florists will be showing six of my photos in their shop. is Valentine week kind of an opportune time? it is, of course. if one of the prints, just one, gets picked up, i'm a happy camper. above are two of the six photos. they've been posted here before. the right one is a variation, i.e., one of the few shots, of my posting "far from the madding crowd". see here http://365project.org/summerfield/365/2012-11-22

the left one i titled "condemned" was a photo i posted in december of 2012. see here: http://365project.org/summerfield/365/2012-12-24

three other photos on show are

and a black and white version of this: http://365project.org/summerfield/365-still/2014-07-30

the sixth photo was not posted here but i took it when partner and i went to port dover last october. so, gallery, it was good talking to yah!

another good news is they are revamping their website. soooo, they asked me to come back to shoot their arrangements and maybe i will take a photo of my photos hanging on the shop's walls.

now will someone please tell me what to do for that gig? hahaha! i have not the slightest idea. what have i gotten myself into now? who wants to come with me?

); I hate it for you! it must be so frustrating ! Good to know the florist is still on board though!

These are two great offerings as are the others you linked us to.

I bet the bonnet sells. I great picture for a flower shop. Good luck with capturing their flower arrangements. Breath In Breath Out you'll do great.

Oh and I love these boats...

these are great shots and I like the negative space between them. Congratulations on having your photos selected you deserve it. What to do smile and say thank you!

I'm delighted for your success! (See Half Full... Forget Half Empty...) You obviously appealed to the florist as a confident and competent photographer, so "hold the poise", "act like you know what you're doing" , and you'll continue to sell yourself. Oh yes..."never apologize or hedge your bet" in their presence! Go back to one and two and you'll do great! xo

Good luck with Wednesday's shoot. I'm pleased that the florist is keen not only to display your pictures but also want you to take pictures of their arrangements. I think it's the gallery's loss for not wanting to display your pictures.

Great news! Its always good to show off your work! For the shooting arrangement do make sure your are hanging in background if possible. Have fun!

@francoise - pffft! that's funny!

i love those boats :) too bad about the gallery - but hey, the florist recognizes your talent and that is awesome! i have no suggestions about the shoot... it's the kind of thing i would shy away from like the plague - not just because of colour and flowers (;p) but just because i hate shooting anything on demand!

I'm surprised the gallery did not like the lily shot. Go figure! As for the flower shoot- I'd do some of the full arrangement alone, some on display in the shop and some close-ups to show the quality of their work. And if there's an employee or two that wouldn't mind posing as customers that would also look good on their website. If I was closer, you know I'd be there! One other thought- go look at what's on their website now and think of some shots to update it. My guess is they won't want to stray too far away from what they already have (even if they say they want something new!).
