Waiting for the torch by boxplayer

Waiting for the torch

Well even though I went out earlier to practise with my camera and check out viewing spots etc - I didn't manage to get one decent shot, so these jolly spectators will do.

'Twas partly because I panicked when the moment came and forgot that, in addition to the high shutter speed, one of the advantages of having put my camera on the sports setting was that the shutter would fire continuously. There was me, pressing it down once and then having to wait for the camera to kick into life again - derrrr ....

And also we ended up with the one relay participant who decided basically to act like a bit of a nob, weaving and darting about and playing up to the crowd - the burly minders that run with everyone had to keep shoving him back into line. Not necessarily something I'd usually advocate (more draconian Olympic jobsworths) but I suppose they had quite a tight timescale to keep to.

Before this brief moment of Olympic excitement - we'd had another good day of decluttering - the bathroom this week. You wouldn't think there'd be much to do, but blimey, once I started unearthing all the old expired medical stuff in the box where we keep our aspirin, Lemsip etc and the remnants of wrapping paper and sundry other Christmas bits and pieces in the top cupboard - we were there all day.

After the torch business, we sauntered up to the village to the annual Nag's Head barndance with Mawkin. Nobody dances until after the break, by which time, they've all had enough to drink and are well up for it and total mayhem usually ensues - tonight being no exception.

Demelza Poldark, aka Angharad Rees, died today. Many women of a certain age will have fond memories of that cult TV series.

You panicked? You need a sports photography psychologist!

@fueast - well not quite panic - but a sort of flustered temporary idiocy ...

haha oh dear... tho to be honest, last week In Fareham the twat sprinted by as if chased by Usain Bolt so got one blurred shot - today the first man we saw, all shots ruined by a WPC who at the last moment stood directly in front of us... The second runner we had a clear shot so managed a few ok(ish) shots...

@andycoleborn LOL - so glad it's not just me - took a little bit of flame above about a trillion heads at one and was chasing the other up the Huntingdon Road on my cycle - and I'm not Bradley Wiggins.
